CODE OF CONDUCT

BREATHE CODE OF CONDUCT

We come together as a community to connect with ourselves, each other and our environment. We share a space where we can become connected through our individual journeys of self-discovery. Together we create an inclusive space to see and be seen for who we are without judgment. It is through these connections we heal our body, mind, spirit and world. This community offers a safe container for these experiences.

The following are reminders of what it means to be a member of the BREATHE community and a participant in holding space for ourselves, each other, and the environment.

Honor yourself

Holding space for ourselves means we listen to and care for our bodies. We understand our limits when consuming substances and engaging in activities. We speak to our needs when interacting with others. We have the right to set boundaries and to seek support when we need it.

Honor your relations

Holding space for others is understanding that we are sharing space and respect that everyone is on their own journey. We take responsibility for how we interact with those around us. We respect the boundaries set by others and we support others on their personal journeys.

We respect a Culture of Consent and know that true consent is freely given, reversible, informed, enthusiastic and specific. If it's not a clear 'yes' it’s a 'no'. Consent can never be given if a person is intoxicated, asleep or unconscious.

Be a community collaborator. If you see something, say something. If you notice someone is uncomfortable or struggling, check in and offer support or to help them find support.

Respect others personal space especially when walking through a crowd, dancing or using flow props.

Respect other's camps when traveling to and through your own.

Honor Children and Families

Keep an eye out for the little ones. All children under 10 must be within eye sight of a parent at all times. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times after dark.

Honor the space

Holding space for the environment means we respect our surroundings. We minimize our negative impact and work to improve the world around us. We understand that we are connected to the world, and our actions have consequences. BREATHE has an entire team dedicated to supporting the community in engaging in a thoughtful way with the environment.

Leave no trace at each space that you are in, hold others accountable, take care of the carefully curated structures and slacklines. Keep noise at your campsite respectful of others, particularly at night and in the morning. If you see dog poop, pick it up. Share resources. Keep the community meal tent clean and tidy.

Prohibited Behaviors

While the goal is to promote problem-solving between community members when issues arise, there are certain behaviors that will not be tolerated while at the festival and which will be grounds for removal from the property. These are any behaviors or actions that compromise the safety of yourself or others, including but not limited to: physical or sexual harassment, dangerous use of equipment or the irresponsible use of substances, and harassment on the basis of sex, gender, race, or religious/spiritual beliefs.

No weapons or toys resembling weapons, no amplified music at campsites after 11pm.

CONTACT INFORMATION

In 2019 the BREATHE Peace Holders were introduced as a team of volunteers who provide support to community members throughout the festival.
